We're very excited to begin yet another season of The Self Portrait Gospel Podcast and what better way to kick things off then with our special guest and music hero, the legendary Lou Barlow of Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh, The Folk Implosion, just to name a few. Having met J Mascis back in highschool, the two set out to form their very own hardcore band, Deep Wound, after being inspired and influenced by the growing Punk/HC scene in their area. They would soon connect with Murph and the trio would establish Dinosaur in the mid 80s before renamaing the band to Dinosaur Jr. for the release one fo the most important records of all time, their 1987 classic, "You're Living All Over Me" on SST Records. Barlow soon parted ways with the band to start the incredibly prolific Sebadoh and for the past 3 decades he has created an amazing body of work that has influenced bands and artists all over the world. Whether he's playing in Dinosaur Jr, The Folk Implosions, Sebadoh, working on his own solo material, or the podcast he co-hosts with his wife called Raw Impressions, Barlow is simpy in it for the love of creating something beautiful, something valuable and its exatcly this that makes him one of the most diverse artists out there today.
