Jared and Anne Ladyem (anneladyem.com) return to the bizarre adventures as we recently played through JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven. We talk about the wild story that unites all the Joestars, our favorite characters and teams to play as, and everyone getting burritos.
Jared and Anne Ladyem (anneladyem.com) take things down an octave as we discuss one of the most interesting games to come out this year, The Quiet Man. We discuss our own original story we came up with during the first playthrough, how the second playthrough isn’t great when you learn the actual story, and just what the heck is The Quiet Man. We also talk about some good things we’ve played recently to offset the bad of the shush shush man.
Jared and Anne Ladyem (anneladyem.com) return with two recent releases (well, one a re-release) to discuss. AL talks about the 3DS re-release of Luigi’s Mansion and how it holds up to its original release in 2001. Jared dives into the cowboy world of Red Dead Redemption 2 to see if all the hype was worth it.
Jared and Anne Ladyem (anneladyem.com) have reached 100 episodes of the Seasonal Anime Checkup OVA and decided that the only way to celebrate was to figure out what was the best out of all the anime, video games, and conceptual ideas we’ve had. So we did just that. It’s time to figure out what’s the best of the best and have some controversy along the way.
Anne Ladyem (anneladyem.com) and Jared return to the world of Life is Strange with AL having just finished Before the Storm. We take a deeper dive than previous episodes where we have talked about this game into the entirety of the game and whether or not if the game works as a whole or if there are parts that were completely unnecessary.
Jared and Anne Ladyem (anneladyem.com) continue with their spooky October theme by talking about two games that fit in that space. First, Jared talks about the latest Swery game in The MISSING and its incredibly surprising themes and story. After that, we go into Symphony of the Night after AL got Jared to play it for the first time and some of the goofiness of Alucard.
Anne Ladyem (anneladyem.com) and Jared get into the Halloween spirit by talking about some of the more famous urban legends in video games. We talk about stories like Ben Drowned, was Pokemon causing kids to die?, Polybius, Shin Megami Tensei’s spooky boot message, the Madden curse, and the Atari landfill. It’s time to get spooky.
Jared and Anne Ladyem (anneladyem.com) get a bit philosophical and theoretical as they attempt to answer the question of what is a masterpiece in terms of video games. We talk about our criteria, how we differentiate masterpieces from our favorite games, the difficulties with answering a question such as this, and look at a list of “best games” and give our opinions on if those games are masterpieces or not.
Jared and Anne Ladyem (anneladyem.com) talk about idols and yakuza in this action packed episode. We begin the episode by talking about the great Love Live! School Idol Festival mobile game and why we enjoy it so much for a gacha style game. Afterward, Jared dives deep into Yakuza Kiwami 2 and its wacky and serious nature.
Anne Ladyem (anneladyem.com) and Jared breakdown a couple of items including the launch of Nintendo Switch Online and its new NES library with online play. AL gives a detailed breakdown of the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 DLC expansion pack, its story, and how much time she put it into it.
