It has been a year since we released Secret Society’s first compilation album. It was a huge milestone for us, and a big achievement for Toronto, a city bustling with talent in the underground house music scene. It was a good reason to celebrate and an opportunity to learn and grow as a community.

In the past year we have restructured, realigned, and have created a plan that will bring these artists a widespread exposure. We are excited to announce the launch of Secret Society as a record label, and with it the next edition of our annual release - SSS: Year Two.

Collected from the original works of Toronto locals, this compilation is a showcase of the talent that have performed at our weekly collective: Secret Society Sessions. It consists of 10 songs, all unique on its own, yet complimenting the vibe, that we all know very well from our most successful event series.

Demuir’s eclectic house sound exudes funky, sexy and soulful beats that are consistently recognized and sought by fellow artists and dance music fans around the world. Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Demuir started off as a child playing around on his Dad’s Hammond B3 organ, before beginning to play music seriously at the age of 16, with skills covering the keys, bass guitar, drums and percussion instruments. He first fell in love with house music after hearing Derrick May’s “Strings of Life”, and by seeing May, DJ Sneak, and Mark Farina at Industry, the legendary Toronto nightclub.

Awarded #1 Jacking House Producer of both 2015 & 2016 by Traxsource, Demuir’s musical output has truly led him to stand out amongst his peers and be championed by dance music’s elite artists. Recent highlights of his releases include a collaboration EP with Cassy on her brand new label Kwench Records, a single on @osunlade ’s @yoruba-records, EP’s on the legendary label @classic-music-company as well as @jesseroseofficial ’s imprint Play It Down, and multiple releases on @dj-sneak ’s labels including EP’s on @im-a-house-gangster, and his most recent full-length album TruSkool on Sneak’s @sneakbeatsmusic.

Not to be outdone by his skills in the studio, Demuir is equally impressive as a live performer with a track record of prolific DJ sets. He first perfected his craft in his native Canada at venues like Nest & One Loft in Toronto, Salon Daomé & Circus in Montreal, Mercury Lounge in Ottawa and Memetic Festival in Winnipeg. Now he’s taken his talents global, with recent performances at Amsterdam Dance Event, Ocean Beach Club on Ibiza, Sektor 909 in Macedonia, and at The BPM Festival in Mexico.

Demuir’s incredible career ascent shows no signs of slowing down for 2018and beyond. A new full-length album on I’m A House Gangster, multiple EP’s on a slew of labels, and a global tour are just a few of the things to look for from this purveyor of all sounds underground.

Regarded as a record selector, industry writer, and music connoisseur, Adrian Ravelo has carved a unique niche in celebrating music culture while exploring his individual sonic palette. He is the enigmatic mind behind the boutique audio catalog, SoundPark Music; his forum for presenting stories and curated audio tales to enthusiasts about efforts in different regions around the world doing unique things to contribute to local nightlife culture. Outside of sharing these stories, Ravelo has amassed a delicate collection of records that he enjoys sharing with the world on occasion. His sound is a narrative in the exploration of Jazz, Dub, House, and Break-beat rolled into a dense layer of moody ambient harmonies all melting into one another to author this signature blend of melancholic yet soulful dance music.

Tim San Andres aka MRKG has been djing for over 15 years. Starting with drum and bass in the late 90's he quickly started playing at many of the best clubs in Toronto like Turbo and System Soundbar while also releasing a slew of records on some of the UK's best drum and bass labels.

After a 5 year hiatus from djing and music he picked it back up in 2014 after moving back to Toronto from Boston. Since then he has joined the Secret Society crew and has gone on to play some of the best venues in the city like Cabal (R.I.P.), Coda, Parlour, One Loft, Cherry Beach, Sunday Social, Harvest Festival, Om Festival and Heavy Meta. Also slowly slipping back into production expect to hear more and more of MRKG in the coming years.

Born in Latvia, with a Ukrainian mother and a Russian father, Arthur Kokanov (SelfServe) moved to Canada at 8 years old and basically became a cultural mut. Mostly dazed and confused he roamed the streets until he fell into a job as a lighting technician at Guverment Nightclub.

In that grimy darkness of House and Techno he found himself, and without knowing it he started his path to become a music selector. As he met some of the best DJ’s in the world (Mathew Deer, Seth Troxter, Deadmau5, Ritchie Hawtin & more) his taste started to evolve into what he now calls the psychedelic experience. Focusing on Funk, Disco, Electronica, minimal and techno, his sets are created to hypnotise and launch you into outerspace.

Scott Mallette a.k.a. Oddio was born in Calgary, Alberta. From a young age Oddio has always loved to play music. He got his first pair of turntables in 2011 and has never looked back. Fast forward to June of 2014, Oddio had moved across the country and landed a job as a live sound engineer at Coda nightclub in Toronto (one of DJ mags top 100 clubs) after completing a degree program for Audio engineering at Trebas.

This job has allowed him to take in thousands of hours of his favorite kinds of music and rubshoulders with the same artists he wanted to eventually work with. Since working at Coda Oddio has had the chance to play alongside some of the biggest names in the industry such as, Ben Klock, Bart Skils, Nicole Moudaber, Pleasurekraft, Anna, Martin Buttrich, Pan-Pot and Andhim to name a few.

Recently Oddio has started up a weekly residency at Coda with a branded night him and his friends over at @allblakrecords have come up with which is called re:set. You can bet Oddio will take you on a musical journey within the many different realms of House and Techno.

“Music is the paint on the canvas of time.” - this quote is part of Thomas Cardin’s life philosophy, along with deep dedication to vibrant, vocal house music, intentional infusion of spiritual awareness to the club scene and progressive popularization of the underground sound.

He believes his success comes as a direct result of conscious, positive thinking, the power of good intentions and the ability to harness the healing force of music. With 10 years of DJing and a lifetime of musical background behind him, Thomas’ vision is manifesting quickly taking his new home, Toronto, by storm. Thomas is a member of a triad which founded “Secret Society”, a community of like-minded music lovers fuelling change. The launch of his record label, Scardinius Recordings is next on his agenda while the wheels are in motion to take Secret Society to the next level.

When asked, Thomas Cardin highlights his defining song selection as his greatest skill, but he never fails to give credit to the producers creating music. He says: “When I’m standing behind the decks there is no ego in play. I’m just channeling.”

Now calling Toronto his home, Medellin, Colombia native, Ceelos has unabashedly solidified his sound and spot in the underground community. In the short time that he has been making his mark in Toronto, Ceelos has harnessed a fan base that is growing exponentially and sees no stopping.

With promotional support from @ozmozis, Ceelos has opened for such industry heavyweights as @jodywisternoff, @gabrielanddresden, @briancid and local favourite, @timpenner. Playing at Toronto’s finest clubs has opened doors and secured his place as a promising resident in the city!
