Secret Superstar Society

Hello Fractal Freaks!!! We’re frack again with episode 6 of our, now video-less, pod. We know you’ll miss seeing our beautiful faces, but you can take comfort in our amazingly sexy, sultry voices. In this ep we confront the fact that God, the universe, and the self are all one big fractal. Then we honor that fractal by doing a Lynda Barry-based writing activity about windows and reading your window submissions. We discuss how our past, present, inner, and outer selves are always in fractal-like conversation with each other and we wrap up by assigning you a very special Dolly Parton Madlib! Could life get any fracking better?

Topics Discussed:

• Jackie’s a workin' woman, Kaelin’s in grad school, and Olivia had mono!
• Treating life like you’d treat Survivor
• Trying to repair our relationship with men
• Cat based witchcraft
• Time traveling in our own lives
• What we can learn from our child-selves about creativity and potions
• Being lonely
• Conversations between various selves
• And of course: FRACTALS!!

Thank you for tuning in and please submit your responses to the Dolly Mad Libs activity on the Secret Superstar Society Patreon! Love you!

It's episode FIVE and we are coming to you LIVE from our beautiful new home! Tragically, we had to leave our magical clubhouse behind (for now), but un-tragically, we have luxurious new things now, like chairs!

This episode we check in with our BODIES BODIES BODIES to explore the various ways they hinder and help our creativity. We do the 'Body Talk' activity we assigned in Episode 4, and assign the next activity -- a very fun writing exercise from cartoonist queen, Lynda Barry!

In this inaugural episode, we discuss our dreams for the pod and do our first creative activity together!

We draw Creative Autobiography Lines to visually represent our unique creative histories. Sharing these with each other launches us into a conversation that gets at the heart of our mission -- finding solace in our shared creative struggle and reconnecting with what originally inspired our love of the arts.

The activity we assign to YOU the listener is to make a Creative Autobiography Playlist and send that in to us on Patreon! Listen to the ep and join our free Patreon community for full details on how to participate.

Topics Discussed:

• falling into Pits of Despair
• the grounding effect of finding creative work that speaks to you
• Sneakernight Disorder
• the magic of moss
• the 6 Cs of creativity (you may be surprised)
• trauma and addiction getting in the way
• the troubling urge to prove that you’re a creative genius
• the soul-stealing devastation of puberty
• and much, much more!

We’re so excited and grateful to begin this journey with you!!!

Greetings, Superstars!

Step inside our secret clubhouse for weekly conversations where we explore what’s getting in the way of our creative dreams, what art is even good for, and how we can hold each other accountable to our inner secret superstars.

Our mission with this podcast is to build a wildly fun creative community that normalizes our shared creative struggle and reminds us why making our art was important to us in the first place.

We were inspired to make this podcast because we desperately needed it in our own lives and we’re hoping that in sharing it we can connect to other people who need it too.

Come on in!

Love,

Kaelin + Olivia + Jackie
