In the premiere episode of my series on Ethiopia’s ancient sites, I will explore the awe-inspiring Northern Stelae Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, including Axum’s massive 500 tonne obelisk. From false doors and windows mimicking multi-story towers, to precision engineered subterraneanchambers, these structures hint at a sophisticated ancient culture. Could Axum’s history stretch far older than the 1st–4th centuries AD, as mainstream archaeology suggests?
