In this episode, I share a conversation with an elderly friend who is so deeply entrenched in Christianity that she refuses to question her beliefs. When faced with tough questions–like why a loving God would allow her devastating accident to happen in the first place–she shuts down rather than reflects. Instead of giving answers to my questioning her on her beliefs, she says, “I’m getting angry.”, and that is my que to shut up and just not talk about it. But, why does faith demand silence instead of critical thinking?

I also discuss the double standard in religious thinking–how believers credit God for victories but take personal blame for failures. When a runner wins a race, they thank God, not their own hard work. But when something bad happens, it’s their fault, not God’s. This episode dives into the irrationality of these beliefs and challenges the dangerous mindset that keeps people from questioning their faith.
