Taliban jihadists killed more American troops in Afghanistan in recent days – a clue about their intentions for honoring any deal with us concerning the country’s future. 

Afghanistan’s elected president is reviewing such a draft accord. It could amount to a death sentence for him, for others who worked with us and for any hope the nation will not revert to what it was before 9/11: a Sharia-supremacist nightmare for its own people – especially women – and an operating base for Islamist terrorists.

President Trump has wisely said we’re going to keep “a presence” of 8,600 troops in-country. Complement them with 6,000 veterans who will fight alongside Afghan forces and use proven techniques to build-up the self-defense capabilities of that nation’s villages and we can avoid what is otherwise in the cards: an ignominious surrender that will embolden our enemies and endanger our people.

The release yesterday of the Justice Department Inspector General report about James Comey did not result in his prosecution – yet. But it did clearly establish what the former FBI Director is: a serial liar who repeatedly violated his agency’s policies and corruptly betrayed the public trust. He is, in short, a “dirty cop.”

As it happens, the IG’s investigation bears out the findings of a terrific new book by former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy, entitled Ball of Collusion: The Plot to Rig an Election and Destroy a Presidency. 

Despite the narrow focus of what is expected to be the first of several reports from Inspector General Michael Horowitz about that conspiracy, we now know that this dirty cop was at the center of Obama administration efforts to assure Hillary Clinton’s victory and, having failed at that, to sabotage the Trump presidency.

One of President Trump’s most important initiatives is the executive order he issued in March to protect our nation’s critical infrastructure against electromagnetic pulse. Our enemies know they can currently use “EMP” to take down the electric “grid” and our country, which depends critically upon it. And Mother Nature’s solar storms will, if they don’t.

A congressionally mandated, blue-ribbon commission has documented these facts for eighteen years. Yet, “EMP- deniers” in the electric industry and successive administrations have long relied on wishful thinking and “junk science” to justify their refusal to take corrective action, leaving us acutely vulnerable to nation-ending catastrophe. 

Yesterday, the Air Force Electromagnetic Defense Task Force thoroughly debunked their latest pretext – a seriously defective and highly misleading “study” paid for by the recalcitrant utilities.

So, now, let’s get on with securing the grid.

A central tenet of “globalization” is that national security considerations need not be factored into trade and financial transactions. As long as money can be made, anything goes. 

Communist China has exploited such thinking to destroy much of the U.S. manufacturing sector, massively transfer our intellectual property and create American supply chain dependencies on an adversary for things like pharmaceuticals and electronic gear that are simply insane.

The globalists on Wall Street have even created investment indexes like the MSCI that enable the Chinese military to fund its threatening build-up with our money. And we learned yesterday that they are poised to pour the pension funds of millions of past and present U.S. government employees into PRC companies that enable, for example, the communist police state, build fortified man-made islands and construct aircraft carriers.

Putting America First means ending such reckless globalism.

U.S. and Taliban negotiators are reportedly nearing a deal requiring the departure of most American forces still in Afghanistan. On Friday, though, a Taliban suicide bomber targeted U.S. forces outside Bagram Air Force Base near Kabul.

Clearly, the Taliban want the world, and most especially the Afghans they are determined to enslave once again, to understand that the United States is being subjected to ignominious defeat at their hands. Under present circumstances, withdrawal amounts to surrender.

Fortunately, Senator Lindsey Graham is urging the President not to go there. In comments Sunday, the Senate Judiciary Chairman warned Mr. Trump against repeating the disastrous mistake Barack Obama made by abandoning Iraq.

He’s right: We need serving and retired special operators and intelligence personnel in Afghanistan to protect us against the jihadist threat that will massively metastasize if Sharia-supremacists can again operate there with impunity.

Yesterday, a Truth Squad in Washington took on the vile lies dispensed by two of the Red-Green axis’ most prominent political warfare instruments: the discredited, radical leftist Southern Poverty Law Center and the terror-tied Sharia-supremacist Muslim Brotherhood front known as the Council on American Islamic Relations.

I had the privilege of moderating a Facebook Livestreamed panel of five experts on these groups, better known respectively as the SPLC and CAIR. An influential retired general, a world-class litigator, two formidable investigative reporters and a prominent pro-American Muslim named Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, exposed them as frauds advancing ideologies deeply hostile to our Constitution and freedom.

The bottom line: Neither the SPLC nor CAIR deserve to be trusted or believed – let alone legitimated or appeased. They are hostile agents of influence and should be treated as such.

President Trump declared yesterday that he is “the chosen one” to take on Communist China. He was specifically addressing the ongoing effort to negotiate a trade deal that would remedy longstanding predatory Chinese practices, theft of our intellectual property, currency manipulation, etc. 

Donald Trump has, moreover, chosen to effect far more sweeping, fundamental and urgently needed course-corrections with regard to U.S. policy towards the PRC. For example, in response to various threat vectors being simultaneously pursued by Xi Jinping’s Chinese Communist Party, the President has: adopted a robust anti-China national security strategy; started modernizing our nuclear deterrent; committed to fielding far more capable missile defenses; launched a Space Force; begun to re-arm Taiwan; and challenged China’s efforts to control the South China Sea.

Much more is needed. And the President we chose to do it recognizes this may be our last opportunity.

Yesterday, President Trump expressed his great frustration with America’s involvement in Afghanistan. It is understandable, but must not translate into a vastly bigger problem.

Unfortunately, to paraphrase the famous quote attributed to Leon Trotsky, we may not be interested in jihad, but jihad is interested in us. Negotiating with the Taliban to the exclusion of the elected Afghan government is a formula for a second Vietnam – surrendering the place to jihadists, emboldening them and other Sharia-supremacists to redouble their “holy war” against us. 

The President says he is looking at various options. Here’s one from former Navy SEAL Erik Prince: Revert to an unconventional warfare approach, cutting U.S. forces to a relatively small number of special operators and replacing the 37,000 contractors now in country with 6,000 veterans who would fight to win alongside Afghan troops. It’s worth a try.

In a first-hand account of the most recent, massive demonstrations in Hong Kong published yesterday at PJMedia, Ms. Rosett provided an invaluable assessment of what motivates their participants: 

“Hong Kongers, in defying Beijing, may be taking on the Goliath of modern tyrannies, but even against terrible odds, they are committed to this contest. That's how much they value freedom….

“Perhaps most intriguing were the parents who despite the warnings surrounding this protest brought young children….One after another, these parents told me the protests are all about their children. These are people who know what freedom means, and see it as a vital legacy for the next generation.”

Last night, the president of the American Freedom Alliance was honored in Los Angeles as a Hero of Conscience for her leadership of that important organization and for suffering the consequences of its truth-telling and political incorrectness.

In May, Dr. Karen Siegemund’s organization hosted a conference on “The Long March Through the Institutions.” It examined the Left’s efforts to penetrate and dominate academia, the media, popular culture and government –  institutions that define our society.

Dr. Siegemund observed, “Each of us here believes in the unparalleled force for good that is Western Civilization – that is our heritage, whether we were born here or not.” The next day, she lost her main job teaching in an elite high school on the preposterous grounds that defending our civilization is unacceptable.

Karen Siegemund is a hero who should be promoted, not punished, for championing Western civilization.
