In today's episode we sit down with Carolyn Cole, the founder and owner of the global business consulting and coaching company www.Boomtank.com and host of the Boomtank Business Show podcast.
Carolyn shares with us her lived experiences that helped shape her and lead to the many different career trajectories that led her to be a substitute teacher, an attorney, a scholar on the human psyche, and ultimately a consultant and career coach for entrepreneurs and businesses.
"The summer after college, I was at Island Records as a publicity video intern and I met their acts, I met different people, it was really cool! U2 came for lunch, different people popped in and out and I got to meet them and talk with them, but that summer in New York, I starved. I ate one salad a day, I walked blocks and blocks to get to their office which was one floor above Tower Records and one floor below where Keith Richards lived... I realized there is a concession to doing exactly everything you want at such a young age."

In today's episode of On The Spot, we had the opportunity to sit down with the dynamic duo Pavi Dinamani and Nammy Sirur, the creators behind The 9to5Misfits, a YouTube channel helping women kick ass in their career and build their personal brand.
"I was in Austin for about 6 months at this job that completely kicked my butt because I had gone from a corporate background to working at an agency and had never before done any creative work before even though I was good at it, it was a completely new way of working. It really taught me what my skills were and what my passion was. So when Pavi told me, 'Hey I got laid off,' it was a no-brainer for me because I was primed by that point to actually say 'Hey, I think I'm ready to be an entrepreneur and take the biggest leap of my life,' because I had taken all of these small leaps before that." --Nammy Sirur
"Our first client is when we were like "Oh wait, we need to consider this as an actual revenue source and something to build." I don't think it was just because we made videos, it's because of the way we shared our stories, made ourselves look like heroes even though we were the losers, we didn't have a job [and that] really struck a chord with a lot of people." --Pavi Dinamani

For this episode of #OnTheSpot, we sat down the collaboration consultant, Baily Hancock to discuss millennial women finding their place in the workplace and in their careers.
When Baily first began collaboration consulting, she launched her first course called "The Career Experiment," where she had only one person signed up for it. This failure propelled her to work harder the second time around, and her hard work paid off: she promoted her second online course, "The 1-Year Career" much more, and thus began her road to entrepreneurship.

Our key takeaways from our convo with Baily: Stay "approachable, adaptable, and flexible."
"Women by nature are naturally collaborative. We have always since the dawn of time, had to work with each other to survive." -- Baily Hancock

Rachel Winard was a professional violinist before going to Columbia law school, at which point she received her Lupus diagnosis. She finished law-school and went to work for a firm when the auto-immune disease took it's toll on her mental, emotional and physical well-being. This forced her to take a step back from her high-stress career and focus on self-care. At the same time, she found that her skin became extremely sensitive and sought mild ingredients for skin care. This is really the start of Soapwalla Kitchen, a proud member of the LGBTQ community, who create products for your health rather than products to help you look a particular way. Soapwalla has a workforce in which half the employees proudly self-identify as queer. In addition to 10% of their net proceeds this year to organizations including the Astraea Foundation, the Ali Forney Center, and SAGE, the company will also be marching in both NYC and Brooklyn Pride.
