In this episode I will speak on key no 7, which is Coaching for Managers and anyone else, for that matter.
Despite coaching being a powerful tool for transformation in all walks of life, there is little awareness of the power of coaching in India. It is often confused with teaching or training. We in India are more familiar with sports coaches. People have immense potential, but need that nudge, that encouraging word, that confidence building conversation, that push to act, which a coach provides. It is rightly said that you cannot teach a man anything. You can only help him discover his potential. According to John Whitmore, “Coaching is unlocking a person’s potential to maximize their own performance”. It is more about helping people to learn rather than teaching them.
Coaching works wherever there is a goal to be achieved, a dilemma to be resolved or a challenge to be addressed. It works for managers as much as for individuals in any life situation. It has many applications like life coaching, executive coaching, business coaching, relationship coaching, and so on.
