The Petbarn Foundation Seeing Eye Dogs appeal Puppy Games event is back for 2022!

On this Puppy Games Special of the Seeing Eye Dogs Show, we're going to be joined by two guests from our partners at Petbarn. 

The first is Petbarn Foundation Manager Janelle Bloxsom who will be joining us to talk about the Petbarn Foundation Seeing Eye Dogs Appeal, how you can help, and about the Puppy Games event which will be available to stream on July 21, 1pm AEST. Don't forget to donate on game day to have your donation matched (up to $50k) by our partner Royal Canin, or head to a Petbarn or City Farmers store during the campaign to donate.

The second guest is Petbarn Area Manager and Seeing Eye Dogs puppy carer Kate McCormack. Kate is going to be talking to us about the appeal, and about her life as a puppy carer raising Hallie.

The Petbarn Seeing Eye Dogs Appeal aims to raise a record $1 million throughout July for Vision Australia Seeing Eye Dogs. Donations can be made instore at Petbarn or City Farmers as well as online. The event will stream online on Thursday 21st July at 1pm AEST, where you can hear more from Harry and SED Bateman. Donations (up to a total value of $50,000) made on 21st July will be matched by our corporate partner Royal Canin. On this life-changing fundraising adventure you’ll experience two specialist guides who will drive, cook and lead you with care across stunning coastlines, rock formations and wetlands. Every participant in the Seeing Eye Dogs: Bay of Fires Adventure will be required to or as a criteria of the program raise a minimum of $3,000 per person or $5,000 per pair. These funds will be pooled together to help breed, care for and train pups to become future Seeing Eye Dogs. Our program welcomes around 200 puppies every 12 months; that’s a lot of hungry mouths to feed, find volunteer carers for and train in any given year. Your support is vital to Australians who are blind or have low vision.

To celebrate NAIDOC Week 2022 Vision Australia would like to extend an invitation to all clients, their families, friends, and Vision Australia partners and stakeholders, and community, who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander to submit a special name for consideration to name a Seeing Eye Dogs pup. Submitted names will have a connection to country to recognise all aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage.

The submitted names will be considered by a panel from Seeing Eye Dogs, including First Nations representatives and announced during NAIDOC week. Names that are chosen will need to be an appropriate fit for a Seeing Eye Dogs pup. We suggest that a name should be no more than two syllables.
