Yogis, I am so excited to have Davina on the Yogi Misfit Sessions podcast this week. We discuss home-life adjustments we have to make during this pandemic and how doing yoga from home has been an adjustment for herself and her family. Davina is also a lululemon ambassador and Fierce Calm ambassador. She was a school teacher before yoga and was moving toward becoming an Assistant Principal but then life changed and yoga became a place where she could be herself. Peace and calm snuck up on her and it’s been her path ever since.

This episode of Dharma Dudes was recorded LIVE in front of you guys! Who attended?!
We discuss how we have adapted our energy and offerings to accommodate that state of the world living in our hardcore “Shelter In Place” . We chat about how we take care of our body and minds. One thing Rocky and I both discovered is the importance of pausing and how we use restorative yoga to heal and condition our bodies and balance our minds and energies. I hope you enjoy this weeks journey! We had so much fun bringing it to life for you! Stay nourished and grounded friends!

If it’s not on Instagram did it really happen?! We are coming at you with the next session featuring Bre + Flo, two of my buddies that live and breathe yoga! We chat about influencer cutler and how it shows up in yoga, social media, and throughout all of our lives. We flip the script on social media and discuss how we can use that tool for GOOD. They have a really cool story where they sold all their belongings and moved into an RV and decided to travel the world! They document their journey on Instagram and take you along for the ride. Bre and Flo were brought together through yoga and it continues to guide their lives. It’s their passion to bring love and spread healing to all. These two are the most grounded humans I have ever met.

Today is a Fierce Calm Collaboration, one of my FAVORITE episodes to do! Maude Hirst has a rad story! She is a past actor that has changed her life through meditation and yoga! Ten years into her acting career she reflected on her life, then suddenly realized that she was just repeating patterns of self-destructive behavior. She had to move on from an unhealthy relationship and had to reflect on if her career was the best for her. A quote that she lives by is feel the fear and do it anyway. The vulnerability she found in yoga inspired her to continue in the practice, it enables her to feel loved, heard and seen. During a yoga retreat she reached a deeper level of self awareness and concluded that it was her job to speak her truth and live her truth.

Today we get to hear from the goddess of Yoga Nidra, Tracee Stanley. We get to hear about what it means to intentionally turn inwards during a time when we are all stuck inside. Not only is Tracee a faculty member at the Esalen Institute, contributor to WOKE Magazine, and co-founder of Empowered Wisdom Yoga Nidra Training School, but she is also the founder and director of Sankalpa Shakti Yoga School. Since 2004 the focus of Tracee’s teaching has been yoga nidra, meditation, self-empowerment, sankalpa (intention) and self-inquiry. Together we reminisce on our inspiring time together at the Wanderlust Yoga festival and demystify the practice of Yoga Nidra. Tracee helps listeners understand Yoga Nidra as a practice that helps you wake up to your life rather than just a technique to fall asleep and relax. Tracee is so generous and is offering all of us a FREE Yoga Nidra - link below. Tune in to this amazingness with Tracee.

Today we welcome back Maris Degener to the show, Maris is my self proclaimed little yoga sister and a lot has changed in her life since she was on the podcast 2 years ago. Maris has been teaching yoga since she was 16 years old and is the queen of vulnerability! Based out of the San Francisco Bay Area, Maris is an advisor to the Phoenix project, a digital platform that delivers immediate trauma-informed healing resources to survivors of sexual assault. She also has a super inspiring Netflix documentary called, I Am Maris, where she opens up about her journey with perfectionism, anxiety, depression, and her struggles with an eating disorder in a very real way. In this podcast we shine a light on the importance of vulnerability, the practice of remaining in the seat of the student and finding your own inner guru.

Have you been in front of your phone or computer more this past week? I know I have. During this time in our lives, for some, it’s the only way for us to connect. On today’s show I interview Andy Mant, the founder of BLUblox blue light blocking glasses. He talks about this concept called “light hygiene” and it’s super interesting. This episode offers a new perspective on how to optimize your health and life as a yogi. Andy is super smart and dialed in to the most current information on blue light and how it’s affecting our circadian rhythm which, when out of balance, can make us tired and forgetful. I learned so much on this podcast and I can’t wait for you to learn too.

I am honored to bring this episode to you today – Kia Miller is one of my most cherished teachers. If you have the opportunity to study with her, you MUST. I was first introduced to Kia Miller by my colleague Yvonne Kingsley. I began my journey with Kia and went to her meditation retreat. I had the most profound retreat I had ever experienced. Kia Miller provides transformational immersions and lives life with such abundant, vibrant energy. She is a phenomenal yoga teacher and I am blessed to have been able to study with her. By the time this episode airs, I will be finishing up a Kundalini Yoga training with Kia Miller in India. I can’t wait to share all of sweet, high vibe energy that comes out of spending time with Kia Miller.
