Soli Deo Gloria — To God Alone Be the Glory!

Together, Psalms 70 and 71 are the urgent prayers of King David in his final years. Feeling old, tired, and needy, he cries out to God. In fact, Psalm 70 is considered an emergency prayer — a 911 call to God. Moreover, it’s the type of prayer you cry out when you’ve hit rock bottom or you’re stuck between that inevitable rock and a hard place. It’s the prayer for when you’ve got nowhere else to turn to but up to God. Let’s dig in…

Soli Deo Gloria — To God Alone Be the Glory!

October 7, 2023, would have been my mom’s 100th birthday. Now, however, it’s another day that will live in infamy. The evil events of that day are worse than 9/11 and Pearl Harbor combined. I wrote this article on Islam on Oct. 27th, I’m now recording it as a podcast. It’s probably one of the hardest ones I’ve ever done. Nevertheless, the truth about Islam has to be told.

Soli Deo Gloria — To God Alone Be the Glory!

Where 1 and 2 Kings and 1 and 2 Samuel were historical accounts, Chronicles written by Ezra, after the Babylonian Exile, is a commentary on the history of Israel from the Kings to the Exile. He wrote it to encourage the Jews returning from 70 years of exile, including everything good from God’s point of view. Next up in King David’s lineage is his son, Solomon, known for what? His WISDOM! Why? We find out here. Let’s dig in…

Soli Deo Gloria — To God Alone Be the Glory!

Since I’ve covered most of the other books in the Old Testament, I’ve linked the names of some of these people to their respective historical accounts so you can dig deeper. Some are great stories, some are terrible stories, but they all had an impact on what goes on in the world today, as well as our salvation through Jesus Messiah. Keep in mind, that history does repeat itself — if we don’t learn from it.

Soli Deo Gloria — To God Alone Be the Glory!

We’ve all seen it in the movies — Africans, African Americans, and Indigenous Peoples in painted masks and feather headdresses, chanting and dancing around a fire to drums. Why do they dance around in a circle? Why do they chant the same thing over and over again? Where did these pagan practices like Voodoo and Animism start? How did it spread around the world? As we delve into more of the world religions, we’ll see how these demonic practices are Satan’s way of turning humans away from God.

Soli Deo Gloria — To God Alone Be the Glory!

After what happened in Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, you may be at a loss for words in how to pray for Israel. God has the answer. Simply, pray the Psalms. God loves it when you pray His words back to Him! Incidentally, that’s why I try to publish a psalm every Sunday. Because of illness, I was unable to for the last few weeks. But I’m back! Interestingly enough, Psalm 69 is not only a prayer of hope, but a Messianic Psalm to boot! Let’s dig in…

Soli Deo Gloria — To God Alone Be the Glory!

Have you ever dabbled in the Occult? Come on, be honest. I am a child of the 60s and 70s America. I also believe that the Catholic Church actually enabled me to easily delve into the occult. Face it. Obviously, the occult is mysterious, other-worldly, and who doesn’t want to know the future? As a teen, I was into all of that. Not knowing any better, I played with Ouija Boards. Wanting to be cool, I just about memorized Linda Goodman’s Sun Signs and knew all the personal characteristics of each zodiac sign.

Soli Deo Gloria — To God Alone Be the Glory!

Last time, we uncovered the history of paganism as told in the Bible. You can read the Book of Acts to learn what happened after Jesus’ Resurrection and how “The Way” spread throughout the Roman Empire. At first, the followers of Jesus experienced persecution from fellow Jews. However, as Paul’s ministry took him further into the Gentiles in the Roman Empire, he encountered the Greek gods.
