We, Ajana Nagorik, are starting a new series on Kolkata, namely "Sekaler Kolkata". We will explore various things unique to Kolkata, our beloved city, in the coming days. We will also compare our present city to the Calcutta of yore.

Our first episode of "Sekaler Kolkata" deals with how cold was the winter season in Kolkata in the 19th century.
