We started our new series with a visit to a home filled with chaos and stress. If we kept walking those same streets, in the same neighborhoods, we could step into homes that have a different dynamic. Not chaos and stress—but success.

Not to minimize real suffering that happens all over our church and community but, for many of us, modern life is pretty good. And when things are good, we’ll often find that we have grown complacent in our spiritual lives. It’s not that God is rejected. He’s just edged out. Pushed to the fringes.

We need some Selah in our lives.

This week, we’ll drop back into Jesus’ life during a season of great success, and we’ll notice the way he lives his life. Then we’ll find a spot next to him, meditate on the words of Psalm 46, and let that psalm guide us toward more Selah in our own lives.
