From a young age, Molly Martens struggled with mental and physical health issues. She aspired to become a doctor to help others. Unfortunately, this proved hard to accomplish. After dropping out of school, Molly was desperate to please her privileged, well-accomplished family. Unable to find anything that piqued her interest enough to pursue, she decided to take a leap of faith and moved to Ireland after accepting a job as a live-in nanny for a man named Jason, who was recently widowed with two young kids to raise. Their relationship quickly turned personal, and the family moved to the United States where Molly and Jason got married. Soon after they wed, cracks started to show within their relationship. Molly claimed to have suffered from daily verbal and physical abuse at the hands of Jason, who had become much more aggressive and controlling as time went on. Things came to a head on a hot, summer night, when Molly claimed to have gotten into a physical fight with Jason, that resulted in her father killing him. But when police investigate the scene, the evidence suggests that there may be more to the story.
