  • How To Handle an Ungrateful Friend

Dear Selfless Esteem, I have a lifelong friend who seems more & more ungrateful & cold hearted. For years I've been there for her by encouraging & listening & helping her out financially when I didn't have much myself. She had similar beliefs but now snaps at me whenever I bring up God or the Bible. She gets mad over any & everything. She's become extremely critical, yells when I disagree & no matter what I do she points out how I haven't done enough. I care a lot about her but the rapport doesn't feel healthy. Signed, Loving Someone Ungrateful

  • Religious Trauma: The Devastating Effects and How to Heal

Dear Selfless Esteem, I think I'm a victim of religious trauma because I'm such a perfectionist. I've been this way since I was a child, and although there's some things I'm grateful for in my upbringing, religion isn't one of them. Whenever something bad would happen to me, a church leader or a church member would say God's punishing me for some unconfessed sin. I don't go to church anymore, but I still feel pressure to be perfect and I still feel guilty over every little thing. How can I heal from religious trauma? Signed, Unholy

  • The Ultimate Cheat Sheet to Aging Gracefully

Dear Selfless Esteem, I'm interested in aging gracefully but I'm also dreading sagging skin, wrinkles, and everything else that goes along with aging. • How to Deal with Lazy Coworkers

Dear Selfless Esteem,Why do I get so mad when I see my co-workers slacking off? I feel like I work twice as hard as they do, yet I don't make as much as they do. They never get in trouble for not doing their job. And I never get any praise for doing more than I need to do. • The Let Them Theory: Biblical or Heartless?

Dear Selfless Esteem, Does the "Let Them" theory contradict the Bible? Doesn't the Bible say that we should motivate each other to do good works? It also says to make disciples all over the world. In my life, I've even had people betray me, backstab me, and try to bring me down. Is it Biblical or even reasonable to have a hands-off approach?
