The Bible provides many portraits of mothers. Some parent with incredible faith and devotion while others with selfish desires. I am thankful the Bible portrays mothers in need of grace. Proverbs 31 describes an idealistic mother. God's greatest desires is that mothers, and all of us influencing others in the faith, will be a reflection of Him in the world.

Worship is... a profound awareness of the holy, that leads us to the shattering reality that we are nothing, but Christ is everything, and he is readying us to serve him.

Today we honor United Methodist Women who have responded to the call to serve through their experience of worship.

In the time of Jesus, your family or group was central to your identity and participation in the community. Your people determined if you were considered dirty or clean.

Jesus came to inaugurate the upside kingdom where boundaries around tribe or racial divides were cut down.

In 2016 their is great racial and religious tension and fear surrounding the stranger and the foreigner. Who are we keeping to keep out that Jesus is trying to invite in?
