  • 8 How to “Watch” for Jesus’ Coming - Mark 13:32–37
How should Christians watch for Christ's return? What does Jesus actually mean when He commands us to "keep watch"? In Mark 13:32–37, Jesus gives His disciples a final and repeated command concerning His Second Coming: "Keep Watch!" But this passage raises an important question: If no one knows the day or hour—not the angels, and not even the Son—what does it actually mean to be ready for Jesus' return? In this sermon, we work carefully through Mark 13:32–37, with connections to Matthew 24:32–35, 43–44, Luke 21:29–36, Romans 13:11–14, 1 Thessalonians 5:1–8, Acts 1:7, and Revelation 3:10. Rather than trying to calculate the date of Christ's return, Jesus teaches us to live in a state of constant spiritual readiness. My sermons are the fruit of nearly 30 years of pastoral ministry, biblical counseling, formal seminary training, and a lifelong passion for God's Word. Since childhood, I've been drawn to the beauty and power of expository preaching—opening Scripture verse by verse and applying it to real life. After graduating from Moody Bible Institute, I spent the next 27 years serving as a youth pastor, senior pastor, church planter, and host of the Food For Your Soul radio broadcast. Along the way, I also earned a Master of Sacred Literature and a Doctor of Religious Studies. For more content from D. Richard Ferguson, visit TreasuringGod.com. • 26-09-27 Meet Christiana
Meet Christiana Faith Debate: Sunday, September 27th, 2026 (10/04/26 on 930 WFMD in Frederick, Maryland) Does history warn against Christian avoidance of "Artificial Intelligence"? In other words, are saints today repeating the strategic error of early 20th-Century fundamentalism? In the 1920s–1940s significant sectors of Christianity responded to cultural/intellectual hostility by withdrawing from universities, media, & public institutions; a posture that ceded enormous cultural influence for generations. The result wasn't the preservation of orthodoxy so much as the marginalization of orthodox Christianity from the formation of cultural institutions. Figures such as J Gresham Machen fought against this withdrawal, arguing that Christians must engage & reform institutions, rather than abandon them. The Faith Debate wondered if Christian avoidance of AI is the beginning of another decades-long strategic retreat that future generations will lament, asking if separation from culture has ever produced a more Christian culture. Can the church sanctify what it abandons? You're encouraged to go listen to these shows. In the meantime, this episode is part 2 of a 4-part conversation on the subject of spiritual visions/apparitions. • What Seminary Missed
This sermon addresses five critical areas often overlooked in theological education, emphasizing practical Christian living over academic theory. The speaker highlights the necessity of personal soul winning, urging believers to lead others to Christ through direct, one-on-one evangelism rather than relying solely on pulpit ministry. A significant portion is dedicated to the theological concept of grieving the Holy Spirit, explaining that unforgiveness and bitterness hinder the anointing and intimacy with God, whereas total forgiveness restores the Spirit's presence. The discourse also calls for a restoration of the fear of God, citing historical revivals like the Great Awakening as evidence of its power to transform society. Finally, the sermon instructs on the biblical principle of tithing as an act of gratitude and honor, concluding with a direct invitation for listeners to confess their faith and accept Jesus Christ as their Savior.

  • 321. The Future of Biblical Counseling
Two of biblical counseling's most influential leaders died within a year of each other (Adams and Powlison), and the movement has been fracturing ever since. In this series finale, Dr. Jared Poulton joins Jared and Dr. Alan Strange to bring the story into the present: the growing rift between "clinically informed" and "historic" biblical counseling, the theological debates over common grace and secular psychology no reformed denomination has ever weighed in on, and why so many Reformed Christians have kept biblical counseling at arm's length despite wanting exactly what it offers. Dr. Poulton makes the case for where the movement goes from here, and issues a direct challenge to pastors and elders who've sat this conversation out. Whether you've followed all four episodes or you're just catching up, this closing conversation will change how you think about the counsel happening in your own church.
