  • 155: Making More of Content You've Already Created: LIVE WEBSITE & SEO STRATEGY

In this episode, Jules White audits the newly relaunched website of Jana from Tune in with Jana, a Website Growth Club member who supports professionals with stress, anxiety, burnout and self-doubt through hypnotherapy, somatic work and Kundalini yoga.

Jana's goal is simple: for her website to bring clients her way with less time spent on marketing. Jules looks at what's already working on her new site and picks out the practical changes that will help it do more.

In this episode, Jules and Jana talk about:

    • Why adding an email sign-up to the homepage and footer is a priority, and how it gives visitors a next step when they're not ready to book a call
    • Reusing existing Instagram videos as YouTube Shorts, and why YouTube's role as a search engine makes it worth keeping a channel going
    • Linking YouTube back to your website and embedding videos on your own pages, so people and search engines can see they belong to the same business
    • Why text smaller than 16 pixels causes friction, and why contrast matters for accessibility
    • Keeping page titles under about 60 characters, and removing wording that makes two of your pages compete with each other
    • Building authority with articles on your own domain rather than on Substack
    • Checking for old landing pages after a website move, and why Google takes time to catch up with changes

  • 154: Stop Building So Much Rubbish: Choosing an Intentional Business

In this episode, Jules White steps away from the usual tips to share what has been on her mind over the last few weeks: a holiday that didn't end quite as planned, the pull of social media, feeling like a square peg, and a book that has changed how she thinks about marketing and growth.

Jules talks about switching off completely on a week away in Crete, and how the work breakthroughs she half expected never arrived. What her brain needed was simply rest after a tough couple of years. On the last day, her husband slipped on some harbour steps and needed stitches and a scan, and Jules shares how that sent her nervous system into overdrive and made coming back to work harder than usual.

From there she reflects on giving yourself grace when a season doesn't feel simple, the occasional moments when a glimpse of social media makes her question her decision to leave, and why those moments actually confirm the break-up was right. She also opens up about feeling like a square peg in a round hole for most of her life, being a highly sensitive person, and deciding to stop trying to fit the round hole.

The heart of the episode is Patrick Grant's book Less, which Jules read on holiday. She connects its message about consumerism and fewer, better things to the online business world: the endless courses, the pressure to churn out content, and the idea that more growth is the only measure of success. She makes the case for building something solid and intentional instead, with pages and a body of work that genuinely bring you clients, and a business that pays the bills and supports the life you want without taking everything from you.

    What Jules talks about:

    • Switching off properly: why working four days and genuinely switching off matters to her, and why rest doesn't always bring breakthroughs.
    • Coming back after a hard week: the expectation that you'll return straight to full speed, and why being kind to yourself matters in changeable times.
    • Social media doubts: how a few minutes on a platform can bring the gremlins back, and the boundaries she's putting in place.
    • The square peg: feeling different, the gap between the confident conversations and the ones in her own head, and choosing to lean into her bolder side.
    • Less by Patrick Grant: what fast fashion and consumerism taught her about marketing, content and growth for its own sake.
    • An intentional business: why you don't need endless content, and what she's focusing on for the last quarter of the year.

  • 153: Get Found by AI Using FAQs

In this episode, Jules White explains how frequently asked questions, one of the most underused sections on a website, can grow your traffic, build your authority and increase your conversions, and why they matter more now that AI answers and AI Overviews pull directly from them.

Jules shares a real example from a website visibility report she ran recently for a physiotherapy business, whose FAQ page was showing up for "sports massage" in both organic and AI search. From there she walks through why FAQs work on two fronts: removing the last-minute hesitation that stops human visitors booking, and giving search engines the context and plain language that show you know your subject. She then covers how to find the right questions, how to structure them so they stand on their own and get cited, and where to place them across your site, including the local-intent questions that help nearby businesses get found.

    Key Takeaways:

Why FAQs matter: They remove buyer hesitation right beside your call to action, help attract right-fit clients by answering things like how you work and your policies upfront, and cut down the admin of answering the same questions over and over.

Finding the right questions: Start with what your clients genuinely ask you, then widen out using Google Search Console, the People Also Ask and related searches on a results page, AlsoAsked and Answer the Public, and AI tools like Google Gemini, though Jules suggests not starting with AI.

Structuring them to get cited: Lead with the answer rather than waffling, keep each question and answer able to make sense taken out of context, use clear headings, keep answers to roughly 40 to 60 words, stick to one question per entry, and add FAQ schema where you can.

Where to place them: A few general questions low down on your homepage, four to six targeted ones on service and product pages to strengthen thin content and weave in keywords, and a dedicated, well-organised FAQ page broken into clear sections.

Local intent for local businesses: Questions tied to local events, parking, addresses and nearby landmarks weave your location in naturally, like asking whether to book a sports massage before or after a local marathon.

Google Business Profile: Google has retired the manual Q&A section, so its AI now answers questions using your website, reviews and profile details, which makes keeping those sources accurate and complete more important than ever.

Your takeaway this week: Review your core pages, your homepage, your most important product or service, your about page and your contact page, and check whether your existing FAQs still make sense out of context, and what you could tweak or add.

  • 152: 3 SEO Website Mistakes That Cost You Clients (and How to Fix Them)

In this episode, Jules White shares the three biggest SEO and website mistakes she sees costing business owners time and money - the same things that come up again and again when she looks at people's websites and talks to them about their businesses.

Counting down from number three, Jules starts with overlooking what SEO and your website can really do for your business. She talks about the owners who pour their time into social media while their website does very little to explain what they do or help people buy - and why a steady stream of leads matters so much, especially for businesses whose clients get better and move on, like physios, counsellors and psychotherapists. When people are already searching, whether that's on Google, through a smart speaker or in a conversation with AI, showing up in search, maps and AI answers can bring the right clients in.

The second mistake is not having a clear message. Jules makes the case for simple, obvious language, so people don't have to burn mental calories working out how to buy from you. Could an 82-year-old or a 10-year-old understand what you do, who it's for and what to do next? She covers the curse of knowledge, using the words your customers actually use, and making sure there's a clear call to action above the fold.

The number one mistake is website structure. Jules explains how a proper heading hierarchy - one H1, then H2s, in a natural order - helps Google and the AI bots understand your pages, and how website builders can set you up to fail if you only ever use headings for styling. She also covers the details that sit under this same mistake: page titles and descriptions, image alt text, internal links with descriptive anchor text (not "read more"), a relevant external link or two, and mobile responsiveness - including why AI bots won't wait around for a slow site the way Google might. Best of all, you can check your own pages in minutes with a free browser plugin, and fix these things one at a time without rewriting your whole website.

    Key Takeaways:

    • The real cost of overlooking SEO: how a website that isn't working for you means missing a steady stream of leads from people who are already searching for what you do.
    • Clarity helps people buy: why simple, customer-led language and a call to action above the fold make it easy to buy from you - and help Google understand your page too.
    • Structure comes first: how a clean heading hierarchy (one H1, then H2s) helps the bots make sense of your pages.
    • The details that add up: page titles and descriptions, image alt text, internal and external links, and mobile responsiveness - and why a slow site loses out with AI search.
    • Small, fixable steps: these are foundations you can improve one at a time, not a full website rebuild.

  • 151: Can Podcasting Grow a Local Business? With Adam Schaeuble

In this episode, Jules White is joined by Adam Schaeuble of Podcasting Business School to explore how an audio-only podcast can help small and local business owners grow their reach, win more clients and build expert positioning - all with far less reliance on social media.

Adam shares how he went from running a fitness studio to becoming a full-time podcaster, and why he believes so many people give up on podcasting long before it starts to pay off. He explains why you don't need to be famous, own fancy equipment or book a studio to begin, and why the businesses that stick with it are usually the ones that see the real rewards.

Jules and Adam get into podcast SEO - which, as Adam explains, works very differently from website SEO - and why the name of your show matters far more than most people realise. Adam also tells the story of losing his Threads account overnight, and why it convinced him to focus on the two things no platform can take away from him: his SEO and his email list.

    Key Takeaways:

Why Most Podcasters Quit Too Soon: Adam shares the sobering statistics on podcast drop-off, and why the first 100 episodes are really just practice.

Podcasting for Local Businesses: Discover why a podcast can work for almost any location-based business, from estate agents to chiropractors, and how putting your town or region to work helps the right people find you.

How Podcast SEO Really Works: Learn why podcast SEO lives in the search bar of Apple and Spotify, and Adam's rules for naming a show that actually gets found.

The Danger of Rented Land: Hear what happened when Adam's Threads account was shut down overnight, and why your email list and the content you own matter so much.

Start Before You're Ready: Why "ready, fire, aim" beats waiting for the perfect setup, and how the human, unpolished moments are exactly what set you apart from AI.

  • 150: Your Biggest SEO Questions, Answered

In this episode - a milestone 150th - Jules White answers the SEO questions she gets asked most often, the ones that come up again and again in messages and in real-life conversations. Think of it as a "start here" episode: the one to send to a friend who is stressing about showing up on Google or feeling worn out by social media.

Jules works through six of the questions she hears most, from whether SEO is dead now that everyone is using AI, to whether you really need to be on social media, blog constantly, or hand your SEO over to someone else. Along the way she explains why strong foundations still matter, why your core website pages usually come before blogging, and why you want to understand enough to own your own strategy even when someone else does the implementing.

The Top Questions About SEO Jules Answers:

    1. Is SEO dead now that everyone's using AI?
    2. Do I have to be on social media for my SEO to work?
    3. Do I need to blog all the time?
    4. What even are keywords, and how do I find mine?
    5. How do I know if any of this is working?
    6. Should I learn this myself or pay someone to do it for me?

Jules's one takeaway from the whole episode: get really clear on your messaging - what you do, who you help, how you make their life better, why they should choose you over your competitors and what they need to do to get it. Get that in place and everything else becomes so much easier.

If you've ever wondered whether SEO still matters, whether you can skip social media, or whether to learn this yourself or pay someone, this is a good episode to start with.

In this episode, Jules White sits down with photographer Becky Kerr for a live Google Business Profile audit, working through the simple, practical changes that help Google understand a business and send it the right kind of work.

Becky's photography is wonderfully varied, from commercial shoots for big brands through to events and awards, and Jules shows how getting the profile and website working together helps the right clients find her. They look at Becky's categories, spotting that "photography studio" didn't fit how she actually works and that "advertising photographer" could serve her better. Key Takeaways:

    • Getting Your Categories Right: Learn why your primary and supporting categories matter, and how to spot one that might be quietly working against you.
    • The Free Tool Jules Uses: Discover how the GMB Everywhere plugin helps you see your categories and the services Google associates with them.

  • 148: How to Optimise Your Service Pages for Google and Sales

In this episode, Jules White walks through how to optimise your most important service pages - the pages closest to the sale - so they show up on Google and in AI search, and actually turn visitors into bookings and sales.

Rather than blogging for the sake of it, Jules explains why she has Website Growth Club members focus on three to five core pages first, and how to work out which service page to start with - your most profitable one, or the one you most love delivering. Using a skin blemish removal page from her salon days as a worked example, she takes you section by section through what a service page needs to do both jobs at once.

    Key Takeaways:

Choosing where to start: Focus on one page at a time - your most profitable service, or the one you genuinely enjoy delivering - rather than trying to fix everything at once.

What the page should show up for: Give each service its own unique, specific page so you're not left with two pages competing against each other in Google, and decide what that single page is really meant to rank for.

Page title and description: Get your key phrase into your page title (around 55 characters) and write a description that earns the click - while understanding that Google sometimes rewrites it based on what's on the page.

The hero section: Your most valuable space. Make it instantly clear what you do, how it helps and what to do next, without making people burn mental calories to work it out.

Headings and hierarchy: Why you want just one H1 at the top of the page, and how a clear heading structure signals to Google and AI bots what the page is about.

FAQs that AI can cite: Structure your frequently asked questions so each one makes sense out of context, giving you a chance to show up in "people also ask" and AI answers.

Three simple steps: A conversion section that removes hesitation by spelling out exactly how someone gets the result they want.

Trust signals: A short bio, split-up testimonials that speak to the result, guarantees and "as featured in" - all placed where they do the most work.

Links in and out: Use descriptive anchor text when linking to your service pages from your own blogs, related services and external sources like your Google Business Profile.

  • 147: How to Stand Out When Anyone Can Create Content With AI

In this episode, Jules White is joined by Rebecca Mackay Miller of BLOC + ROSE for a conversation about how to stand out when anyone can generate content at the click of a button. Together they explore why your unique human perspective and lived experience are now the only real way to show you are a genuine expert, rather than someone who simply knows how to use an AI tool.

Rebecca shares how she helps multi-passionate founders become known for one big, ownable idea that connects everything they do, rather than exhausting themselves marketing several different versions of themselves. Jules reflects on how a session with Rebecca was the spark that brought her whole "social media is optional" philosophy together, and the podcast series that grew from it.

They also talk about getting your SEO foundations in place before worrying about whether AI will recommend you, writing in plain language that both people and search engines can understand, why intuition should sit alongside external data, and why being a little contrarian helps you cut through. Rebecca then shares a simple exercise you can try straight away to start uncovering the threads that make your thinking your own.

    Key Takeaways:

Why your perspective matters: In a world of AI-generated content, your lived experience and point of view are what help you stand out in search and show genuine expertise.

Commodity vs non-commodity content: Understand the difference between surface-level content anyone could generate and the deeper, first-hand content only you can create.

The one ownable idea: Why becoming known for a single, connecting philosophy is more powerful than marketing multiple versions of yourself.

Plain language wins: Why writing clearly enough for a 12-year-old to understand helps both your readers and the bots crawling your site.

The soft end and sharp end of the stick: How to keep the basics of what you do crystal clear, while building out the richer narratives that give your work depth.

A simple exercise to start: Try the noughts and crosses grid to surface your beliefs and hot takes, then push to the bolder version to find your real thread.

Women and thought leadership: Jules and Rebecca discuss why raising your head above the parapet can feel harder, and why it matters for the generations coming after us.

In this episode, Jules White shares an honest reflection on six months since she decided to break up with social media. Jules explains why social media is optional, not forbidden: the handful of ways she still uses it on her own terms, why she now swaps numbers with people she genuinely clicks with rather than collecting followers, and the small daily moments - like a fellow dog-walker who'd never noticed the blackberries he passed every morning - that come back when you lift your head from your phone.

    Key Takeaways:

Six months on, honestly: Stepping back didn't fix everything or break anything - February was Jules's best month ever, and the months after were the normal ebb and flow of business.

The 10K month myth: Why chasing a magical public number can cost you your sanity, and why paying the bills and living the life you want is a perfectly good measure of success.

Know your numbers: Before you leave social media, look at your data and work out what it's actually bringing into your business - Jules had assumed her podcast was doing far less than it really was.

Social media is optional, not forbidden: You don't have to delete your accounts - you can use it intentionally, on your own terms, and point people to where you'd rather be found.

Networking without collecting followers: Why exchanging numbers with the people you genuinely click with beats following hundreds of connections you'll never keep up with.

Intentional living: The real prize has been headspace, more books read, more time in the real world, and less of the constant "I should be posting" noise.

Your first steps: If you're thinking about stepping back, start by knowing your numbers, then build up other ways to connect with people before you go.
