IWNDWYT! It means, “I Will Not Drink With You Today!” Something so simple can mean so much. A lot of people, like myself, get tired of trying the same old recovery paths. This last time, I did not want to go to Twelve-Step recovery. I thought I had tried all that before. I thought I had worn out that path, which did not appeal to me. So, in my search (I stalked the subreddit for two years before I got sober in 2014), I found: “https://www.reddit.com/r/stopdrinking” It was a friendly place on the Internet where people were headed in the same direction I wanted to be. And just like anywhere, it has its positives and negatives, but I found it was an excellent place to begin again. You were encouraged to post on a “Daily Check-In” thread each day. And almost every post was “IWNDWYT.” Some would fall off, and others would join. After a while, I was afraid I would fall off again, too. It didn’t take me long to find myself back in the rooms of Twelve-Step recovery with a new frame of mind and understanding.
