Welcome to ✨☀️ Serenade to the Soul 🌙 ✨, where yoga meets deep inner listening. In today’s Yin Yoga session, we explore the fire and beauty of summer through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) — specifically, the heart meridian. This theme is inspired by last week’s episode, “How to Align with Nature this Summer for Health and Balance” with special guest, Catherine Atwood. (Link)
Summer is ruled by the fire element and connected to the heart, which in TCM is considered the “Emperor” — the seat of joy, spirit (Shen), and emotional balance. But when heart fire becomes excessive, it can lead to anxiety, restlessness, and burnout.
This slow, grounding Yin sequence is designed to cool the system, open the heart space, and bring emotional clarity. Whether you’re feeling overheated physically or energetically, this class will help you restore harmony.

Ready to Relax? Need to recharge? Would you like to be treated with a special meditation where you don't have to think at all and act as if you're going to sleep?
In today's episode, JackieOM guides listeners through a Yoga Nidra practice, emphasizing relaxation, self-awareness, and connection with one's inner self and community. The session includes a focus on the body, breath, and emotional states, culminating in a visualization of connection with a 'soul tribe' and a reminder of one's divine potential.
How To Prepare For Practice
Yoga Nidra can be practiced at any time of day when you need the reset - in the morning to set the tone of your day, midday to realign, or in the evening to fall asleep. You are encouraged to set up a space where you can comfortably lie on your back as if you're going to sleep. Perhaps a bolster or pillow underneath your knees, a blanket to cover your body, and an eye mask or towel to minimize your intake of light. Get cozy and comfy - ANYONE CAN DO THIS practice!
What is Yoga Nidra?
NSDR (Non-Sleep Deep Rest) is the scientific term for Yoga Nidra, the ancient art of bringing the body and the mind to the state of deep rest, relaxation and regeneration. During Yoga Nidra, you are not asleep, but submerged into the sweet state between sleep and wakefulness where the brain enters theta waves. In theta, transformation and healing occurs from beyond the mind rather than through the mind gifting us with the ability to rewire the brain for greater mental and emotional balance and resiliency. Studies show that a single session of Yoga Nidra equates to three hours of restorative sleep improving working memory, creativity, and executive function, as well as reducing stress hormones and increasing the scores of wellbeing and joyfulness.
Takeaways
Yoga Nidra allows the body to receive meditation messages.
Creating a comfortable space is essential for relaxation.
Sankalpa is a positive affirmation to counter limiting beliefs.
The practice involves connecting with different layers of the body (koshas).
The soul tribe represents a supportive community.
Breath is a powerful tool for grounding and alignment.
The practice encourages self-acceptance and love.
Returning to a state of protection and purity is always possible.
