Jesus has finished the bread of life discourse. The people find His teaching too hard to accept. And Jesus agrees, because it is only by the Spirit that life comes, but the instrument the Spirit uses is the Word. And that Word demands a response.

Jesus concludes the bread of life discourse by showing the necessity of eating His flesh and drinking His blood. In this picture, Jesus gives a perfect picture of saving faith and the faith that fuels the Christian life.

Jesus explains how He is the only bread that can endure. He shows that the salvation that He offers the crowd is eternal because it is the will of the Father that all those given to the Son will be raised on the last day. He will lose none of them. He also shows that salvation is a supernatural work of God in the heart.

The hungry crowd seeks again to have Jesus feed them. Instead, He shows them the true Bread which they should desire. They follow him for the wrong reason and the wrong way.

Jesus tests His disciples knowing that He is about to miraculously feed the 5000. Instead of trusting His provision, they focus on their lack of resources and the impossibility of the task. As today, Jesus provides for His disciples when He calls them to follow His Word.

Peter encourages his readers to remember the promises of God. Remember to pursue the life God calls us to, and to Remember the purpose of that life.

Jesus continues to answer the accusations of the Jewish Leaders who are charging Him with blasphemy for claiming to be equal with God. Jesus presents several witnesses to show that He truly is the Lord of all. However, Jesus doesn't allow them to judge whether His claim is true. Instead he judges their hearts and shows them why they don't believe.

Jesus answers those who accuse Him of blasphemy by claiming to be equal with God. He affirms that He is indeed equal with God. He is in perfect unity with the Father, He shares authority with the Father, and He will preside over the final judgment

Jesus reveals Himself as equal with God when the Jews accuse Him of healing on the sabbath. When He reveals Himself, we see his grace, compassion, power, and His authority. Jesus demands a response from those to whom He reveals Himself.

Hebrews shows us the perfection of Jesus' sacrifice. In His death, burial, and resurrection, He secured an eternal redemption for those who trust in Him. Now there is no more sacrifice for sin. The offering has been given once for all and no other offering is necessary or accepted.
