John gives us picture of those in chapter 2 who "believed" but to whom Jesus did not entrust himself. Nicodemus is shown that his problem lies in the fact that he has not been born again. This is what we all need to hear. Unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Jesus enters the Temple, runs out the sellers, and turns over the tables of the money-changers. Jesus is Zealous for true worship and so should we be. But Jesus also demonstrates that He is the true temple. He is the true place where worship, prayers, and sinners are accepted by God. Only through Him do we find peace with God, and He knows the inner most depths of our hearts.

Jesus does the first of His "signs" in the gospel of John. Turning the water used for ceremonial cleansing into wine is a picture of what Jesus came to do. He has taken away the outward ritual cleansing and has ushered in the new era of the New Covenant.

In the calling of the first few disciples, we see the grace that Jesus bestows upon his disciples as he uses them, transforms them, and reveals His glory to them...and us.

John the Baptist's witness to the coming Christ was powerful and effective. God used him to prepare the way for the Messiah. As disciples, we are called to be a witness to Christ and to make disciples. How can we be a powerful witness for Christ as John was?

John conclude his prologue by showing the incomparable glory that we have seen in Jesus Christ. Believers have received grace upon grace from His fullness and Jesus has ex[plained God. What greater glory can there be but the Word who became flesh?

In John's prologue, right at the beginning, he shows us that the testimony of Jesus demands a response from men. There are only two possible responses - to reject Him or to receive Him. It is only those who receive Him who are born of God. John defines what "receiving Him" entails.

John begins his prologue by introducing us to Jesus. He is God over all but also with God. He is Creator, LIfe, and Light.

Paul instructs the Corinthians in the proper use of their gifts. Each member of the body of Christ is both useful and in need of the other members. No one can say "I am not needed," and no one can say, "I don't need anyone." The great commission is about making disciples, therefore our mission is people.

Peter exhorts the believers to live in light of Jesus' coming. The end of all things is at hand and so he counsels us to use the gifts we have received to serve one another as good stewards of grace, as dependent upon God's strength, and as instruments of God's glory.
