The word of God is a rock which protects and defends His people. The hard places are the situations in which we find ourselves stuck between two impossible situations. King Solomon had his first case of being between a rock and a hard place when he had to decide to judge between two mothers arguing over one surviving infant.----Stuck between the Rock of God-s Word and the hard place of two women arguing over one surviving baby, Solomon ordered his soldiers to divide the surviving child between the two distraught mothers.----The true mother surrendered her right of keeping the surviving baby. The false mother was glad that the true mother would also have to loose her child.----Solomon then ordered the soldier to give the surviving infant to the true mother.----Psalm 61 provides a picture David-s prayer as He was forced to enter into a situation in which he had to endure the circumstances which could only be described as being between a rock and a hard place. In verses 1 - the first part of verse 2, we understand that David is overwhelmed with the situation. In the second part of verse 2 and 3, we find David being led to the rock was higher than I. In verses 4-8 we discover David praising God in the -sweet spot- between the rock and the hard place.
