The Nature of Light:

The Connection between Physical and Spiritual Light

Romans 1 :19-20

For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisi­ble attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

What is light? Genesis 1:3; John 1:5; John 8:12

1. Properties of light

A. Wave (visible light)-

1. Can shine in good times and bad (It does not need a medium)- Luke 1:76-79; John 1:6;

John 1 :9-1 0; Galatians 4:4-7; Matthew 5: 14-16; Psalm 109: 105

2. There is no variation in God's light (Light is light-no matter the form)- James 1:17;

Hebrews 13:8; John 8:12; Col. 1:15-17

3. Purity/Good (The color white)- Isaiah 1:18; Matthew 17:2; Mark 9:3; Luke 9:29; Revelation 7:14; Revelation 19:14; 1 Peter 1:18-19

The Lost Book

(2 Chronicles 34:14-18)

Have you ever found something in the place it was supposed to be? That's what happens in our context. God's book had been lost in the Temple for 75-80 years! Hilkiah finds the Book of the Law and it immedi­ately prompts change in Israel and King Josiah. On many occasions today we lose "The Book" in places it should never be lost. This lesson examines several places in which the world losses The Book.

Have you ever felt imprisoned? Maybe not literally, but likely imprisoned none-the-less. It could be a dead-end job, a financial burden, or medical problems. This lesson is meant to help with those feelings. Acts 12:10 says "opened by itself', but is that really what happened? God was there and God is always there. This lesson is about some simple observations I had while reading this historical account!

Keeping Your Eyes on the Rock

Life is filled with daily struggles that can easily take away our focus and knock us of the path we wanted to follow. Satan desires to turn our attention to our problems and distractions, rather than to keep our eyes on the Rock. (1 Pet. 5:8; 1 Cor.10:1-4) Our Rock is solid and true. (Heb.13:5-6) Understanding God as our Rock is the real path to a life that is far greater than the diversions of this world.

1.) Focused on God as our Rock

A. Understanding the Rock that is God (Ps. 18:2; Duet. 8: 15; Ex. 33:22; Duet. 32:4; 1 Sam. 2:2)

B. The Rock provides (Matt.6:11; Ga/.6:16; 2 Sam.23:3; Ps.40:2)

C. The Rock is strong and stable (Ps.62:2, 7; 94:22)

D. That Rock is Christ (Eph.2:20; Rom. 9:33; 1 Pet.2:8; 1 Cor.10:4)

2.) Focused on the One Who Cares for Us
