  • After the Flood
The account of Noah and the ark is one of the most well-known events in the Bible. Children learn of the story growing up (Noah, his family, and the animals being saved from the flood in the ark). There are also lessons for us to learn as adults (punishment for sin, obedience to God’s commands, etc.). But what about the events AFTER the flood? There are some important lessons for us there as well.

  • Why Does the Earth Still Stand?
Peter told those to whom he wrote that the end of the world was coming like a thief (v. 10). He wanted them to be prepared (v. 11, 14) because it could come at any time. Approximately 2,000 years later the earth is still here. Why? Let us notice three reasons given in the Scriptures as to why the earth has not yet been destroyed.

  • The Foundations for the Righteous
In this psalm, David described the adversity and opposition he faced from his enemies. Yet he could take refuge in the Lord. He was secure as long as “the foundations” remained secure.

  • Jesus Wept
This verse is the shortest verse in the English Bible, yet there is a lot to be learned from these two words. The context is about Jesus’ response to the death of Lazarus, a personal friend. Jesus was going to raise Lazarus from the dead, but before that was an emotional scene (v. 32-34). What can we learn from this passage?

  • Lord Willing
This passage is often cited to emphasize the uncertainty and brevity of life – important lessons. It also teaches us the importance of remembering our dependence upon God – “If the Lord wills…” On this point, there are four lessons I want us to consider from this passage. If we forget these lessons, it will always lead us into sin; we will notice how in this lesson.

  • Jesus: The Great Physician
Jesus is sometimes referred to as “the Great Physician.” He came to heal those who are sick. In our text, He was referring to SPIRITUAL sickness (sin). But Jesus also healed many PHYSICAL ailments. These symbolized the spiritual healing He provides. In this lesson, we’re going to look at the physical ailments healed by Jesus and notice the spiritual parallels.

  • This World Is Not My Home
Paul described our lives on earth as TEMPORARY; yet we have an ETERNAL home in heaven. It is important that we understand this. This world is NOT our home; our real home is in heaven. In this lesson, we will contrast these two homes and consider how this reality should cause us to live.

  • What Does the Lord Require?
If you ask various people what God requires of us, you will likely get many different answers. In our text, Micah revealed from God what He requires of man. This was revealed while the old law was in force. It has since been nailed to the cross (Colossians 2:14). However, the principles are the same. We will see that God still expects these things of us today.

  • Choose Life
The book of Deuteronomy is a book of reminders – of God’s law, God’s provisions, and events in the wilderness. This was necessary because it was given to the generation remaining after forty years in the wilderness. They were about to enter the promised land and needed to be reminded of these things. We also need to remember these lessons (Romans 15:4). In our text, they were told to choose; we must make the same choice today.

  • You Have Need of Endurance
Endurance is a characteristic we must have as Christians. But WHY is it so important? In this lesson, we will consider a few passages that explain why we need endurance. NOTE: There are a few different English words (endurance, patience, perseverance), but they are all the same Greek word.
