God’s design and intent for marriage is that it be permanent: until death do us part. However, not all marriages end at death. Some end in divorce. Are these coulples still married in God's eyes? Is every divorce sinful? Does God ever allow for Divorce? What about remarriage? In Mark 10, Jesus tackles the difficult and controversial issue of divorce and remarriage.

The issue of divorce and remarriage is personal, painful and controversial. It's personal for almost all of us. It touches people we love. It impacts our own relationships or past relationships. It’s painful. Divorce is like a death; grief, sadness, depression, anger. To speak about this topic will bring up some painful emotions. It’s controversial. Christians don’t agree on this issue. There are many opinions by people who are trying to follow the word of God. The sasme was true in Jesus' day and, yet, Jesus takes it head on. We should hear His words and reorient our lives to God's glorious design for marriage.

God had promised a Savior and He fulfilled that promise through Jesus. Jesus, our Savior, was crucified according to God's plan and was raised from the dead just as God had foretold and purposed. The hope of mankind is found in Jesus Christ our risen Lord!

The Apostle Paul wrote "For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures." (1 Cor. 15:3-4 ESV) Was Jesus' suffering and crucifixion fortold in the Bible? Was it the good and wise plan of God? We'll look at a lot of Scripture to compare what was prophesied and what took place in the trials, sufferings and death of Jesus.

God has displayed His divine attributes in nature and throughout history. He has demonstrated them through His Son. Jesus said, “He who has seen me, has seen the Father.” And clearly through the crucifixion God has shown us who He is. He demonstrated His faithfulness by keeping His promise to Abraham and David. He showed His love for us, also His mercy, grace, kindness, and goodness. He demonstrated his power through the resurrection. But is the crucifixion a demonstration of God’s sovereignty or was the resurrection a contingency plan to undo the chaos? Did God purpose and plan Jesus' betrayal, arrest, conviction, crucifixion and resurrection?

God takes sin seriously, so we should as well. This teaching may seem radical or extreme, but it is an application of the previous teaching: “whoever would come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross and follow me.” This is the call of everyone who follows Jesus: serious discipleship with great cost. As we will see, the alternative is even more costly.

There is a path to greatness in God's kingdom, but it is not the same as the world. It is the opposite. It is the same path that Jesus took to His greatness and glory. Not in the exact same way, but in the same attitude and in the same upside-down manner: to be truly great, you must be truly humble!

What do we do when we have doubts? Where do we go when our faith is weak?
The father is this story pleads for help for his demon possessed son and cries out for help with his own unbelief. Jesus responds with correction and compassion.

Jesus takes Peter, James and John up the mountain to pray. There His divine glory is revealed to them. Moses and Elijah speak with Jesus about His crucifixion.

Jesus calls anyone who wants to follow Him to count the cost. You must deny yourself, take up your cross and walk with Him. He is worthy it. Are you willing?
