We are called to not just believe, but ‘repent and believe.’ Repentance is not just feeling bad for our sin, but it is changing our mind and affections. We are reconciled by repentance because it reconciles our affections with God’s.
Our God is not a passive God. He reveals Himself to us so that we would know who He is and how He feels about us. When we see Him for who He is – we realize just how worthy of our worship He is!
Jesus is often referred to as the Great Physician. He came for those who are sick, as healthy folks don’t need a doctor. Sin destroys our healthy relationship with God just like disease destroys our bodies. Jesus has come to seek out and heal the sin-sick, not the self-righteous.
We are here to preach the Good News to a world that already worships. We do not have to convince them to worship; rather, that the objects of their worship are weak and fading. We point them to the one God who is alone worthy of worship
How beautiful are the feet of those who bring the Good News. God sends us to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to the lost and the wandering. This is our call!
Jesus does not give us the option of continuing our lives as they were while following Him. There is a cost to living on mission...a cost to being a witness to the Gospel and we must consider that cost as disciples.
We are witnesses of the Gospel. While we didn’t see Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, we’ve seen Him work in our own lives – we’ve experienced grace and mercy. We are called to bear witness about who God is and what He has done in our lives.
We are sent into the world with the same “why” as Jesus – to make God known. This is our singular, collective purpose in life and one that doesn’t permit us to live a life of passivity.
