Why does Noah curse Canaan, the son of Ham, when it's Ham who looks at Noah's naked body? And how does this influence the rest of human history?

God not only promises not to send another Flood to destroy the world; he also swears a covenant with all of creation as a testament of his faithfulness.

Because we can trust God's faithfulness to his promises, we should obey him: by waiting when he says to wait, and acting when he says to act.

in the story of the Flood, we see that God is neither a God only of judgment, nor of salvation—but a righteous God who brings salvation through judgment.

Human sin continues to progress after the initial rebellion. How will God respond to this depravity? Is there any hope for the human race at this point?

After Adam & Eve's firstborn murders his brother, a tension arises: Will humanity embrace the Cain's depravity, or will God raise up a faithful remnant yet?

The story played out in the lives (and death) of Cain and Abel becomes a pattern—a type—of the struggle of good and evil in this world to this very day.

When we rebelled against the one who gave us life, we were alienated from God, from other people & our world, and from ourselves.
