This week we welcomed Rev. Dr. Sunny C John, Principal of Jubilee Memorial Bible College in Chennai, India.

In John 7:25-52 Jesus clarifies his identity further and demonstrates that the Father sent the Son to give the Spirit to believers.

Jesus did not seek his own, personal, private glory, but glorified his Father demonstrating human glory-seeking is wicked and willful, but ultimately weak.

For those who believe, Jesus’ words assure us of the reality of our faith. Jesus graciously preserves his people by promises, assurances, and warnings.

Jesus defines the purpose of his coming with an explanation that stretches to his incarnation, earthly ministry, death, resurrection, and “the last day.”

Though the disciples face difficult circumstances, John demonstrates through this passage that it is better to suffer with Jesus than to feast without him.

In this passage, Jesus here reveals the nature of his relationship to God the Father, declaring that the incarnate Son builds his kingdom by his word.

Jesus is opposed for breaking the Sabbath, but he keeps the Sabbath by restoring restful work to those carrying the burden of inactivity and fruitlessness.
