Sermons of Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones

John 5:24-26 — Seeing and perceiving; hearing and understanding; mastered by the Word; the example of Lydia; the Word reveals the condition of man; the final judgement; the giver of life.

John 5:17-23 — No Christianity without Christ; the relationship between Christ and God; the doctrine of the Trinity; man's need of a spiritual life; a life only from Christ; the Judge of this world.

John 5:10 — The two groups; facts that insist on a verdict; the person of Jesus of Nazareth; governed by prejudice; to know Christ : the supreme desire of the Christian.

John 5:6-9 — The results of sin; the lessons of the man at Bethesda; the hopelessness of man; the needs of the world met in Christ; the whole of salvation is in Him.

John 3:19 — The most tragic verse in the whole Bible; man misunderstands his problem; the quest for an answer; man fails to look at the fact of Christ; Jesus talks with Nicodemus; who is this Jesus? A death of weakness and helplessness; a false alarm; the only light is the light of Jesus.

John 3:19-21 — Man prides himself in knowledge; man's problem not intellectual; but moral; man is driven by sin; the power we hate; unbelief is positive; man by nature hates the light; the contempt of modern man for the Gospel.

John 3:19 — The fairness of the judgement; why was Jesus crucified; and why do men still reject Him? the mind of man is deluded about himself; how can a man know God? not a matter of intellect; the relevance of the scientific age; knowledge of spiritual matters has made no advance in the past 2000 years; no advances in morality.

John 3:18 — The importance of the word 'believe'; life is a place of probation; criticisms of evangelical preaching; the importance of the Gospel; the truth about ourselves; the sin of unbelief; and why; the rejection of the testimony of God's only Son; reconciled to God through His Son.

John 3:18 — The two persons of this passage; salvation is for the individual; man belongs to one or other of two groups; the Christ who judges; Jesus; not just a moral teacher; to imitate Christ; the most hopeless situation in the world; Jesus can be our condemnation; our destiny decided in this world.

John 3:17 — The need to see this verse in context; Jesus came not to condemn; condemned already by the Law; what it means to be saved; the power of the devil; our guilt and the devil need to be dealt with; righteous before God.
