Most of us work because we have to. There are bills to pay, after all. We see work as a means to an end -- or worse, as a curse! The long hours we put in at the job keep us from family, from leisure, and from the life of discipleship, forcing the most important things in life to compete for our after-hours attention. But what if God has a plan for your work? What if your life in Christ is meant to be lived at all hours -- even when you're on the clock? We devoted eight weeks to the vision of discipleship in Ephesians, but we're not quite done with the subject. This Sunday begins a two-week coda exploring a question raised during the last series: how do we balance the call of discipleship with the reality of work? First, we will explore a biblical view of work from the standpoint of creation. What was the nature of Adam's work in the Garden, and what can we learn from it? "The Sweat of Your Brow: The Curse (and the Blessing) of Work," is the first sermon in the two-part God at Work series. Visit us online at www.graceforsiouxfalls.org.
