Jonathan Edwards said, “… the duty of singing praises to God seems to be appointed wholly to excite and express religious affections.” No wonder then that Moses wrote a song after the great deliverance of Israel from Egyptian slavery. This great act deserved the people of God giving it all they had to praise their Saviour. And recording the words of the song would help future generations to excite their own affections for their Rescuer. We need to learn to sing like them now, for we will certainly do so the rest of eternity. “And they sang a new song, saying, ‘Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation…‘”
