Slavery is not a thing of the past, nor is it something that's only happening in other parts of the world. Slavery is still all around us and in us. We are all slaves to sin until Jesus Christ sets us free through the power of the gospel.

The story of Moses raising the staff of God in his hands over the battle with the Amalekites is enigmatic, to say the least. Yet, there are many hands at work in this passage. Amalek raised her hand against God. Israel raises her hands to God. And God, in power and judgment, brings His hand into the battle. All of this a remarkable picture of the spiritual war in which the Christian lives every day of their life.

Like the Israelites, we can easily grumble when going through difficult seasons in life. But there is another path. Replace your grumbling with gratitude because God has a purpose for you, He is present with you, and He will provide for you.
