  • The LORD Is Worthy of Your Trust
God in his infinite wisdom will sometimes bring us through difficult circumstances so that our trust and dependence upon him will be deepened. The Lord through our circumstances reveals that he is worthy of our trust.

  • Worship God!
Jonathan Edwards said, “… the duty of singing praises to God seems to be appointed wholly to excite and express religious affections.” No wonder then that Moses wrote a song after the great deliverance of Israel from Egyptian slavery. This great act deserved the people of God giving it all they had to praise their Saviour. And recording the words of the song would help future generations to excite their own affections for their Rescuer. We need to learn to sing like them now, for we will certainly do so the rest of eternity. “And they sang a new song, saying, ‘Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation…‘”

  • Forward!
When God told Israel to march into the Red Sea, He was commanding an act of faith. He knew that salvation lay on the other side, but all they could see was water. • Between a Rock and a Wet Place
Sometimes things need to look worse before they can get better. In fact, sometimes God goes out of His way to arrange our circumstances so that it looks like all hope is lost. Unless you are the One who put the whole situation together.

  • Remember Who You Are
Israel was given three reminders to help them never forget their rescue out of Egypt: Passover, the Consecration of the Firstborn and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. These were constant reminders of salvation, redemption and sanctification, respectively. And all three reminders found their ultimate fulfillment in Jesus Christ. Just like rescued Hebrew slaves, Christians need to be reminded again and again of who they are. Specifically, who they are in Him.
