When it comes to requesting things from God, would you prefer happiness, or blessing? People in Scripture prayed for blessing from God. But what do God's blessings look like? It might not be what you think... yet it might be better than you can imagine!

It's easy to ask for things that are on our heart, but is that the best approach? Can our hearts be trusted? This is one area where we sometimes feel our prayers aren't answered, but what if God is interested in more than just giving us what we want? What if God is working to change us for the better?

There was only one time the Disciples asked for a "tutorial" from Jesus. They didn't ask about how to heal or do miracles, they asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. Why? Perhaps they understood that prayer is the foundation of everything else we can do in our service to God. What can we learn from the model that Jesus gives His disciples?

If prayer is so potent, no wonder the enemy wants to do whatever He can to stop it. Sometimes, guilt and shame prevent us from prayer. But if God already knows everything, and God forgives, why should we be afraid to approach Him in prayer? Our advocate removes this barrier that keeps us from one of the most potent tools in our relationship with God and others!

After Jesus' ascension, the disciples were directed back to the scene of the crime (Jerusalem) and devoted themselves to prayer. Considering the great need in the world, why would God wait 50 days before sending the Holy Spirit? The answer might help us understand why prayer needs to be a priority!
