John writes to prove that Jesus is really God and really man at the same time.

Paul reminds us that there is an amazing blessing awaiting us when we die. That's the ultimate gain to be certain! But we should not long to escape this world. Instead we are called to live every moment as if it was lived for Christ. To live is Christ to die is gain.

The reminder to preach the word is a powerful one that all of us can use.

In the readings for this week, we focus on a simple line from Isaiah. My ways are not your ways nor are my thoughts your thoughts. This quote from Isaiah is a reminder that when we don't like how we see things, it is very likely that we don't have the full picture view that only God has. Perhaps we should trust and obey as we follow where he calls us to go.
