The gist of this parable is one of sloth and laziness in the people of faith. The gospel is not for those who are just going to sit on the sidelines and watch the work happen. It’s not intended to be buried and never used. Likewise the gifts God has given us are intended for a purpose as well. God gave them to us in greater or lesser degrees so that we could live them out and put them into practice.

As we wrap up our sermon series on the Tender Commandments of God, we're reminded of the purpose for which God gave these commands. They're intended to draw us closer to him. Our last message in this series deals with the final four commandments we have remaining. We'll take time in this message to show how these four commandments really drive to a heart of discontent and how the best way to address these commandments is to find contentment in what we have in Christ.

In today's message we look at a passage about taxes. No one wants to pay them but the Bible teaches that it's not our money anyway. Jesus says to give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God, but what does that mean anyway?

The first commandment with a promise is the one many of us learned to be the fourth commandment. Throughout the Bible the command is given to take time to rest. This is one of the 10 Commandments and according to our text for today, it's one of primary importance. This week we learn about how proper rest can impact how we run through our lives.
