We come to the day of reckoning in Esther. The day the two edicts spoke of… 1. The first of an offensive against the people of God 2. The second a defensive measure against the enemies of God The story unfolds as we see imperfect people bringing about God’s perfect purposes. In this message from Esther 9 and 10 we see… - Rescue Promised - Rescue Enacted - Rescue Remembered Some might say there are hard bits and questions that may arise. But God’s holiness, justice and righteousness should be a comfort for us (Ezekiel 33:11) As you read through to the end of Esther, realise that it is another revelation of the glory and sovereignty of God in your life.

The story of Esther speaks into the reality of a true and better sovereign King who is not passive, who does not lack compassion for his people, and who is not just seeking his own contentment. The story of Esther reveals a God and a King who is full of compassion for his people, who hears their plight and actively steps into it in order to rescue them from the impending decree of judgement.

Pride {noun}: ”the ruthless, sleepless, unsmiling concentration on self. Self absorption and self concentration” - CS Lewis “concentration on the self. Pride is absorption in self.” - Tim Keller Pride is always asking, “How am I being regarded?, How does this make me look?, What are people saying about me?”  Pride always asks, “What about me?, What about me?, What about me?” Prise leads to …A fall, …Destruction, and …Bitterness. Chapters 5 & 6 are an extensive narrative of what pride can do to oneself compared to humility: “thinking of self less” (Tim Keller) We all love ultimate approval, assurance and love and we often go to the wrong place to find what only the True King can give us. Listen to the message to understand what the Bible has to say of the destructive power of pride and and how being secure in your identity in the True King brings about a lasting, feet to faith kind of humility
