Too often leadership in the Church follows the same principles and falls into the same patterns as leadership in other organizations. The Church is tempted to look to men as leaders because they display the kind of characteristics valued in the business world.

Officers in the Church are not chosen primarily for their skills or their ability to bring about results. They are chosen primarily for their character.

The needs of the New Testament church require a new office, that of deacon.

Jesus has chosen to shepherd His people through men. Men who are qualified and equipped to lead the Church. These men are called elders.
