Jesus comes to a well in the middle of a hot day and meets a Samaritan woman. As He so often does, Jesus initiates the conversation and brings spiritual things to bear, even when the woman finds it hard to understand.

Our default condition is to be condemned in our sins, but when we believe the testimony of Jesus, we will have eternal life.

John shows us that the way of the Christian is to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ rather than to have concern for one’s own fame.
