Sermons

As we continue to look at living our lives on God's mission, we look today at the importance of clinging to the gospel each day.

For the entire month we will look at God’s mission and how He has called every follower of Christ to join Him on His mission. God is inviting each one of us to follow Him into a broken world as we live a life on mission.

Today we close out our sermon series on the book of Jonah. As we do, we come to really land on the main point. There is much to pull from this small writing, as we have seen, but as we close today we see that Jonah’s writing is a prophetic warning to Israel and the church.

God is about making the dead come alive. He takes the dead fruit of Jonah's disobedience and made it come alive again, as Jonah goes to Nineveh at last and Nineveh experiences a great revival.

God is a God of persistent grace and He pursues Jonah all the way to the bottom of the sea, as Jonah while in great distress cries out to the Lord and the Lord answers Him.

It is all about God, His glory and His love. That is where my thoughts go to when I continue to read over the first chapter of Jonah. Yes there are so many life lessons to pull from this first chapter and I want to continue to do that this week, but in the context of the glory of God and His great love for us.

Today, we begin a study on the book of Jonah. No doubt you think of a great fish when you hear Jonah mentioned, but this book is really about our great God. Jonah goes through a painful experience to discover the true character of God. As we learn from his experience may God reveal things in our own hearts, so our heart may look more like God's.

You and I, as God-fearers are to seek, strive after and promote peace. Too often though, we ourselves are in conflict or quarrels with others. May we be encouraged today to pursue peace and be peacemakers.
