In Matthew 27:45-56 we see the fulfillment of what Charles Wesley once wrote: “Born that man no more may die. Born to raise the sons of earth, Born to give them second birth.” The dramatic and earth-splitting events of Jesus’ last moments on earth reveal the cosmic reality of sin and death and God’s plan to vanquish them. The Son died truly “that man no more may die.

The message of Christmas is that something greater has come. His name is Jesus. What happens to Him in His final hours on earth seems like something bad, when in all reality is something great for you and I.

Today as we look at Jesus in the garden we see a willing and anguishing Savior, surrounded by the problem of sin. Such a sight causes us to ask how deeply we love the communion with the Father and how great do we hate sin?

The table is set, as the Passover meal is shared, for the price of deliverance that will be paid by Jesus.

may we be prepared today for the coming season with a holy remembrance of the coming of Christ not just to the cradle, but to the cross.

True Christians serve suffering disciples with ministries of mercy.

Today as we continue in Matthew’s Gospel, hear another parable from Jesus that presses the point of how important it is to have persevering faith that bears fruit.

Are you ready for the Second Coming of Jesus? For those who know Jesus it will be a glorious day, but for those who don't their irreversible fate will be in Hell forever.

We don't know when Jesus' return will be, but we know it will happen suddenly when no one is expecting it. So, how will that day find us? Will we be living as a faithful servant or as one consumed with a self-centered life?
