Jesus isn't just a hope, He is our only hope. Through Jesus and His work we are restored to God and have full, unfettered access to Him, now and forever.

In warning us against wandering away from Jesus and reminding us of our need to be faithful to the truth, the author of Hebrews encourages us to trust in God's faithfulness and love toward us in Jesus, and invites us to respond to this amazing grace by loving God and people.

After proclaiming the greatness of Jesus for five chapters, the author of Hebrews urges the church to grow up into the reality of Jesus. This growth is not about benchmarks, objectives, or agendas. Instead, it is about believing Jesus and pursuing, following, and growing in Him, empowered by the grace of God.

We often find ourselves setting new goals, working towards them, and either happily succeeding or miserably failing them. If we were to approach the text with this mentality, then we would be missing that Jesus has already accomplished it all. Instead, let us work, serve, and fight because we know who Jesus is.

Just as Mary rejoices in God's promises through the Messiah coming, the hope would be that we too would live knowing God delivers.

God reaches down to us, and His love for His children is not dependent on us. We can forget the idea that we have our life together or that there would even be a need to have your life together before the Creator. These truths give us joy to not just invite Jesus into our plans but depend on Him as we follow His lead.

Keeping Christ in Christmas has everything to do with the Christian making much of Jesus in their daily life and specifically in this season.

The reality of Jesus and the truth of the Gospel is not something to be put on the scales with other ideas, but when we see the glory of the Son it displaces anything that we might put on the scales. The glory of Jesus shows us He is not one of many options, but He is the only option.

Jesus is more wonderful, more beautiful, and more satisfying than anything, ever. The rest offered through the cross is the only true rest in the universe, and He did everything for me to enter into it. At the same time, our life as Christians is about fighting the lies of this world and pressing on towards Jesus. We live in tension between our fight and His rest that only His cross can ultimately resolve for us.

Jesus has revealed Himself in history at the perfect time to bring humans into God's perfect rest. The warning we receive in Hebrews is that today if you hear the voice of the Spirit, and the good news of the Gospel of Jesus hear it, believe it, and rest in it.
