The author of Hebrews warns us to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit and not to grow hard to His voice. The point is not simply that we are people who do not have hard hearts, but that we are people with soft hearts in the hand of God, and that we know our need for Jesus and respond to Him with our whole lives.

At the core of our life in the Gospel is understanding who Jesus is and what He is doing in the world and in our lives. It is in understanding who Jesus is, are we able to hold fast our confidence and hope in Him.

Jesus, Himself, came into human history, God Himself became a man. Jesus Christ the God of the universe entered into creation to save sinners to life.

God is faithful to fulfill all His promises. When we don't believe in God's promises we begin to wish we were back to our old nature. However, Jesus accomplished all, and the only thing we need to do is receive His transforming grace. Through that we obey as a response to His grace, rather than in an effort to just appease Him.

From redemption to sanctification, all of it is God's idea. As fallen humans we would never conjure up anything like God's salvation plan, but through it we find peace and joy in Jesus. We're now in God's family due to the wrath Jesus absorbed on the cross. As a result, we are also apart of the Church family.

Often times we are quick to emphasize and highlight the "safe" sections in scripture because we want people to know Jesus. As a result, we shy away from addressing the hardest and darkest issues of the cross, sin, and suffering. However, the hardest, darkest, and sickest places of our soul is what needs to be revealed and as Jesus' light is shone in those areas He is faithful to redeem the brokenness, and we are then able to experience life.

Jesus made us free. That core belief empowers the Church. Our walk as a Jesus follower does not involve new methods or knowledge but instead focus on what we already heard about the goodness of Christ's Gospel. Pastor Andrew preaches on going back to the basics - just Jesus - not positive mindsets or anything done or achieved by the believer on their own.

Hebrews speaks well about angels. People often hold an overly positive or negative position on the topic. However, God created all things good, but, out of love for a gracious Father, all creation must remain under the exalted place reserved for Christ. Our sin was paid for, and we need to live in response to Jesus' love. We were alienated from Christ but through the cross have been reconciled to Him. In our daily lives these truths manifest themselves in us taking ourselves out of God's spot, and leaving Him in His holy place of Lord.
