The promise of redemption in Genesis is that the Lord will protect the seed of the woman and faithfully provide a land, a nation, and an eternal blessing. Genesis 12–50 displays our need for a Savior to save us from our sin, usher us into a greater country, and make us His treasured possession.

The unfolding promise of the gospel in Genesis is that the seed of the woman, Jesus, will crush the seed of the serpent, mankind’s greatest enemy the devil, through His death, burial, and resurrection. Genesis 1–11 highlights our desperate need for a Savior to deliver us from sin, death, and judgment.

God has a heart for the nations, seen most clearly in sending His Son on a mission to seek and to save the lost. His gracious instruction of Jonah calls into question our own compassion for the lost. The Great Commission is a call to have a heart after God's own heart.

The prophet of God warns of a coming judgment and calls the people to repent and believe. On the basis of their repentance, God withholds His righteous judgment. All of this points forward to a greater prophet, a greater judgment, and a greater salvation.

God provides a glorious picture of salvation through His Prophet, who was sacrificed to deliver sinners from destruction. His figurative death, burial, and resurrection points us directly to the Lord Jesus and our own need to die to self in order to walk in newness of life.

God has always had a heart for the nations. Therefore, He graciously sends a prophet, who is sacrificed as a substitute in order to deliver wicked sinners from destruction, to proclaim salvation from judgment to all who repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.

God made a way for sinful people to be reconciled to a holy God through Christ's substitutionary death on the cross. So Jesus willingly laid down His life for the sheep. When sinners hear His voice, they respond in faith, serve as ambassadors, and joyfully proclaim His message!

In response, we are called and commanded to contend for the faith once for all delivered to the saints even as we persevere in that faith!

God’s children are called to persevere by faith in Jesus especially when faced with trials, laying aside sin and trained by God’s purposeful discipline. We are to strive for holiness as we run hard together, that we would reach the finish line and behold the Lord of Glory!
