Jesus Christ is the sinless Son of God who willingly endured the wrath of God so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. One crucified criminal encountered Jesus on Good Friday and came to understand grace, the undeserved gift of eternal life in Paradise with Him.

There is a difference in the world between professing faith and possessing faith. James clarifies that true faith in the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sin and hope of eternal life always results in good works. Our works can't save us, but true faith always bears fruit.

The Kingdom of God is at hand because the King is at hand. However, the Kingdom of God is very different than what was anticipated because the King is different than who was anticipated. This king is no ONLY the Son of Man but also the Suffering Servant. Therefore, Jesus calls us to repent and believe the gospel which means that we devote our lives entirely to Him, denying ourselves, and seeking to serve the least of these.

As the Son of God and the Suffering Servant, Jesus must deny Himself, suffer many things, and take up His cross in order to purchase our salvation, and therefore we must do the same if we are to be truly saved by Him. But our suffering is always in light of the certain hope of glory!

True faith in Christ is more than intellectual ascent, where we physically see and acknowledge Jesus' life and miracles. It is seeing Jesus rightly, with spiritual eyes of faith, that acknowledge Him as the Son of God and the Suffering Servant, and worship Him as the promised Messiah.

Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, who has all authority to proclaim the good news of the gospel and cleanse us from our sin. Therefore, He came to teach us that cleanliness is not a matter of rules and regulations, but a matter of the heart. And faith in Christ is the only way to be cleansed.
