In presenting the prophecies about the Messiah, the prophet Isaiah describes Him in detail, His character and His ministry. As a perfect man, Jesus Christ is different from all other men. Through His earthly life He showed in what the perfection and power of men is expressed. The power of Jesus Christ in His person, in His life, and in His ministry takes an entirely unfamiliar form. In describing the Messiah, Isaiah dwells especially on His obedience to His Father, His meekness, His remarkable perseverance, and His God-centeredness. All of this has a very direct relevance to each one of us.

All of this has a very direct bearing on each one of us.

One of the key tasks of the Messiah spoken of in Scripture was and is justice. In promising salvation to His people, and through them to all the people of the earth, God emphasizes again and again that His Servant, the Messiah He sent, will not just save people from the calamities of earthly life, He will solve the main problem, He will eliminate the cause of all these calamities - He will destroy injustice. The prophet Isaiah speaks of this in many specific ways.

Fear is one of the most significant problems of human life. The prophet Isaiah says that fear can only be overcome by knowing God, by belonging to Him, and by trusting in Him. God not only has power that surpasses all around him. He loves his people and is ready to help them, making them able to face any trials.

After describing God as a source of consolation, Isaiah continues to focus on the person of Jehovah. This time he speaks of the reasons why God can and should be trusted and relied upon. Isaiah speaks of His infinite power and wisdom, His ability to control both the powers that be and the global processes of the cosmos.
