Welcome to Wednesday, June 16th!
This episode of The 7-Minute Cross Talk Bible Study is titled:
Only A Boy Named David!
For this Bible Study, we are considering the words of this week’s Old Testament Lesson - 1 Samuel 17:32-50.
Other than providing a foretaste of David's future prowess as king, what is the subject of this passage?
It is, of course, a picture of Israel's lack of trust in God. Saul had no faith that God would deliver the Israelites from the Philistines.
Goliath had issued his twice-daily challenge for 40 days in a row - mocking, ridiculing, and taunting the Israelites.
The Israelite army turned into a hand-wringing bunch of frightened men.
David declared his trust in God. He figured that with God's help fighting Goliath would be no more dangerous than fighting the lions and bears.
The Lord had the power to deliver him, and he was convinced that the Lord would inject His power into him. He would be empowered to defeat Goliath.
This was the strong trust and faith that David had in the Living God.
