Liberal leadership aspirant Angus Taylor has quit the opposition frontbench ahead of an expected challenge to Sussan Ley.

Mr Taylor did not declare his intention to call a spill and challenge Ms Ley but last night he said the party "can't ignore" the position the Liberal Party finds itself in.
